Politics as Good Works

William Wilberforce (Wikipedia Commons) Introduction             In my own life, I have often heard that one reason Christians don't engage in political activity is because the realm of politics is intrinsically corrupt and dirty. One author phrases this objection as, "It’s a Dirty Game. They’re All on the Make. They Can’t Be Trusted."[1] Therefore, for a Christian to engage in such a process would taint our witness for Christ and would get us involved in a worldly power struggle when Jesus said that his kingdom was not of this world (John 18:36).
